Pacers thump Nets 121-105 for 3rd straight

The Indiana Pacers are on a roll.

Sure, the opponent was the 3-35 New Jersey Nets, but even as recent as two weeks ago, I would have seriously doubted the Pacers’ ability to pull out the win.  But alas, nothing to worry about in the end.  The Pacers pulled away from the second quarter and cruised to a 121-105 victory and their third straight win.

Unlike their wins against the Raptors and the Suns, where they had to rally from more than 20 points down, the Pacers were firmly in control against the league’s worst team.  With the victory, the Pacers move to 14-25, still 11th in the East, but they are now only 6th worst team in the NBA!

When Danny Granger (28 points), Troy Murphy (21 points, 14 rebounds), Mike Dunleavy (14 points) and Roy Hibbert (12 points and 5 blocks) are all clicking, the Pacers are a pretty tough team to beat.  And on this night, Brandon Rush was the star, scoring 15 points without a miss and adding 6 rebounds and 5 assists.  Forget I ever said send him to the Developmental League!

Seriously though, it’s good to finally see Rush play like he belongs in the NBA.  We’ve seen it before, so it should come as no surprise, but what the Pacers need from him (and to a lesser extent Hibbert) is a bit of consistency.

Next up, the New Orleans Hornets, who have been pretty disappointing thus far (for them, anyway) this season.  The Hornets are only 5-15 on the road this season, whereas the Pacers are 10-9 at home, so it’s not an unwinnable game.
